Why Deacom’s Culture is Award Winning

A strong company culture is the foundation of business success and Deacom is honored to receive SmartCEO’s 2016 Corporate Culture award. So what makes our culture different?

It all started more than 20 years ago when Deacom’s Founder and CEO, Jay Deakins, had the idea to redefine how ERP software is developed. Today, Deacom is about to hire its 100th employee and continues to be successful in disproving the traditional ERP model.

This determination and passion for making a difference has carried throughout the years to create the foundation of the company’s current culture. Together, the team strives to break the mold and present new ways to generate business success – be it for Deacom directly or for its customers. This mindset played a significant role in earning the company SmartCEO’s 2016 Corporate Culture Award.

“We call it an impactocracy,” says Scott Deakins, COO of Deacom. “We have created a culture where pushing the boundaries of traditional methods and thinking differently is not only encouraged, but rewarded.

Artisan Spotlight – Hard work never goes unnoticed at Deacom. In fact, team members are encouraged to nominate an Artisan who deserves the spotlight. These people are those who have recently made the most impact on Deacom’s success. The winner receives a premier parking space and a custom bobblehead trophy – Now, who wouldn’t want that? As a fun way to recognize standout team members, this program has become one of the most anticipated announcements during Friday lunches.

Work Hard and Play Hard – We may be hard workers, but we are also fierce competitors – especially when it comes to games. It’s not uncommon to hear a cheer from a ping pong win, crash of Jenga blocks, or smack talk from corn hole rivals throughout the day. After all, what’s life without a little friendly competition?

Free Lunch on Fridays – To encourage stronger interdepartmental relationships, Deacom provides free lunch to all employees on Fridays. During this time, employees have the time to partake in Ping-Pong tournaments, challenge one another to a game of corn hole, or just chat over a good meal. Food trucks, catering companies, and some of the best local pizza joints have been the most popular lunches on these days.

After Hour Activities – Outside business hours, Deacom often hosts fun events ranging from annual parties to charity 5K runs. Oh, and have we ever mentioned how talented our team of artisans are? To show off their skills, we have had special events like home brewing tastings and potluck dinners.

Innovative Workspaces – December 2015, Deacom opened its new headquarters in Chesterbrook, PA. This modern 37,000 square foot space is complete with collaboration spaces, game tables, a full kitchen, inspirational meeting rooms, and comfortable break areas. Customer Events – As part of our annual user conference each year, Deacom hosts an Adventure Night bringing together customers around the country with our national team. While communication with our customers is often on a daily basis, they don’t always have the opportunity to interact in person. Designed to check business at the door and have some fun, attendees go head-to-head in go-kart races, video games, laser tag, bowling, and of course great food and drinks.

As Deacom continues to experience tremendous growth, we are dedicated to keeping our unique culture intact while expanding the opportunities for career development. To learn more about how you can join the Deacom team, visit our careers page.
